Many of us are looking forward to see David Corenswet's version of "Superman" in theaters next summer. Talking to MovieZine, James Gunn who both directed and wrote the film and is now co-CEO of DC Studios - gives us an update on what viewers can expect from the studio in the future.
Gunn explains that all upcoming DCU productions will be very different from each other. This is because it's one of the things he's loved most about DC Comics: the ability to go from family-friendly stories to darker, more adult-oriented material:
- I think for us, we just want to tell a bunch of different stories. A lot of those different stories are going to be in the DCU. We have something that's relatively serious like Superman and then something that's relatively comedic like Peacemaker all in the same universe.
He clarifies that titles like "Peacemaker" will still be very adult, while the upcoming "Superman" is described as something "pretty family-friendly."
- I think that to be able to tell different kinds of stories is kind of what makes things fun. One of the things I've gotten a little sick of is all these stories being relatively the same. I'm trying to step outside of that. We at DC are trying to step outside of that.”
